My story...
 
Hi, I'm Cassie! I'm a certified elementary teacher, mom of three, and the founder of Liberty Learning. For the past ten years, I've had the privilege of teaching children in the public school classroom while also raising my own family. I have experience utilizing many different curriculums across grade levels K-4 and actually started my teaching career as a one on one paraprofessional. Working with incredible teachers in inner city, suburban as well as rural schools has given me a wide range of experience that has shaped me into the teacher I am today. 
 
As both a teacher and a mom, I've come to realize that every child learns differently. While traditional schools serve many children well, I've also seen firsthand that one approach doesn't always fit every learner. That realization has shaped not only the way I teach, but also the educational choices I've made for my own children.

Exploring the world of homeschooling has given me an even greater appreciation for personalized learning, flexibility, and meeting children where they are as well as being able to challenge them in ways that the traditional school model is just not able to do effectively at the moment. 
 
Liberty Learning grew from that belief—that every child deserves to feel known, supported, and excited to learn.
 
Why I Became a Teacher...
 
I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember. I was drawn to the opportunity to make a difference in children's lives—not just academically, but by helping them build confidence, develop curiosity, and believe in themselves.
 
Even after nearly ten years in the classroom, my favorite moments are still the small ones: watching a child finally understand a concept they've been struggling with, seeing their confidence grow, or hearing them proudly say, "I did it!" Not to mention children are hilarious and joyful little creatures that are incredibly fun and rewarding to work with!

Why I started Liberty Learning...

Over the years, I’ve seen that children thrive when they’re given the time, attention, and encouragement they need. While today’s school model works well for many students, it isn’t always the best fit for every child or every family.

In my own public school classroom, I often taught students who ranged from very high achievers to children with significant academic and behavioral needs. Within that structure, even with my best efforts, it was incredibly hard to give each child the level of challenge or support they truly needed. That experience showed me that the model itself can limit how effectively a teacher can reach every student, even when the teacher cares deeply and works hard.

As I began exploring homeschooling for my own children, I experienced firsthand how powerful individualized learning can be. It reinforced what I had already seen in my classroom—that children flourish when they’re taught in a way that respects their unique strengths, interests, and pace, rather than being fit into a one-size-fits-all system.
 
Liberty Learning was created to provide that kind of environment: one where children are known by name, encouraged every day, and challenged to grow in a small group setting. My goal isn't just to help students become stronger readers and mathematicians—it's to help them develop confidence, perseverance, critical thinking skills, and a love of learning that will serve them for years to come.

Our learning space...

Liberty Learning takes place in a dedicated classroom area within our home. The space is set apart from our family living areas and designed for focused, small-group and 1:1 learning, giving students a peaceful, home-like environment that still feels structured and professional.

What makes Liberty Learning different...

I believe relationships come before academics. When children feel safe, valued, and understood, they're much more willing to take risks, ask questions, and grow.
 
Rather than expecting every child to learn the same way, I take the time to understand each student's individual strengths, challenges, and learning style. I strive to create lessons that are engaging, hands-on, and meaningful while encouraging children to think independently, solve problems, and persevere through challenges instead of giving up when something feels difficult.
 
Whether I'm tutoring one-on-one or teaching a small kindergarten class, my goal is always the same: to help children become confident learners, resilient problem-solvers, and kind, capable individuals who are prepared not only for the next grade level, but for life beyond the classroom.
